The CrossFit Endurance Program was developed on two fronts:
1. To allow CrossFit Athletes to still CrossFit and compete in endurance sports and bring a standard to running.
2. Give a unique opportunity for endurance athletes to learn another significant way to effectively train for any event they wish to compete in. It also provides a unique opportunity for them to have a life outside of training. Something most endurance programs will not allow for with the sheer volume demand of these programs.
For most endurance athletes, strength and conditioning have been components that are tacked onto training programs as "extras" or "supplements". CrossFit Endurance is quite the opposite in that the strength and condition you recieve in daily WODs are the focus and are crucial to your endurance training.
With progression into the program, strength and conditioning should be maintained by CrossFit WODs at least 4-6 times per week, in addition to the supplemental CrossFit Endurance workouts (with at least 3 hours separating the CrossFit WOD and the CrossFit Endurance workout in a single day). The idea behind the continuation of the CrossFit WODs during endurance training is that the anaerobic workouts will build up your aerobic capacity, even at lower training volumes.
"We know this is contrary to what everyone else is telling you...
We aren't everyone."
We aren't everyone."
